It's a part of the landscape. Imagine! I could see the beach as I sauntered up the hill to my high school in a famous beach town in the Caribbean. It's the natural environment that I took for granted - the beautiful scenery overlooking the bay. I could see large cruise ships docked in port, expensive catamaran with day visitors on guided drift, boats and canoes of local fishermen, ski bikes and other water crafts moving about in their flurry of activities and the silhouette of all who chose to be on the beach.

The nearest area was part of an uneven shoreline and was certainly not a part of my choice locations for beach activities. It was often said the unnatural coastline was a result of land reclamation.

My later studies of Tourism Planning educated me on the extent of coastal destruction caused by  development and a lack of urban planning. As destinations continue to sell sun, sea and sand,
